A little piece of opportunity fell out the sky today and landed in my lap. I was running errands this morning, and as I was making my way up 332 in farmington, my cell phone rang. I answered it, and it was a woman from RIT offering me a job interview. It is nothing much. Just a part time clerical type position. It is 25 hours every other week. The days would be friday and saturday from 7am-5pm, and then a weekday of my choice for five hours. The pay would be minimal, but you have to realize that the greater benefit is the opportunity to network. The position is for an assitant in the executive MBA department. People going for this type of MBA are people that have been in the industry for years and just want an MBA so they can increase their salaries or their positions. It would be great for me to get in touch with some of these people and be on the inside of what companies are hiring and who they are looking for. At first I was going to decline the interview, because I did not want to work that many hours on a friday and saturday. But, the more I thought about it, the more I realized that it was only every other week. And, things like this happen for a reason. If I turned it down I never would have known what might have come of it. It might be the difference between finding a job right away and waiting forever for a job to come along when I graduate a year from now. So, this time I am not going to choose to sit it out...I am going to dance. I have an interview on thursday at 9:30 am, and I am certain that I will get the job. Why else would it have fallen into my hands when I wasn't even looking for a job. It was meant to be for some purpose that I am unaware of right now, but I will find out eventually.
