I went for my interview at RIT today. It went well and I got the job. I will probably start training next week or shortly after. It sounds like a really great opportunity. I will get to know a lot of the executive MBA students on a personal level as well as many of the professors that may also be my professors later in my program. Breakfast is brought in every morning, and lunch is catered for the students on class days (every other friday and saturday), and I am included in that. I eat with the students because my supervisor wants me to remain visible to the students and the professors in case anyone needs anything. Basically I am a glorified gopher girl, which is fine by me. They said in the interview that there is plenty of down time, and I am more than welcome to do homework in that time. The pay is much better than I thought ($10.30/hr.). There are three full weeks in the year that I will have to work. One of them is the EMBA orientation week at the end of august. It is actually the week before my own MBA orientation, so I will get a little preview of what it is all about. I was also invited to attend the orientation dinners that RIT will be hosting. One is a dinner cruise and the other is a dinner at a country club. So, that will be another great opportunity for me to get to know some of the Executive MBA students. I am very excited and looking forward to all of it. Now I am sure that my job upon graduating will be the result of working for RIT and networking. That is why fate threw it in my lap. As Uncle Tim wrote in SHOES, "One of the coldest feelings in life is never knowing what might have been". This job was sent to me for a reason, and I am not the type of person to doubt what fate throws my way and pass up opportunities. If I had decided not to interview for this position, I would have always wondered what I missed out on and what might have been.
